The Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has been unlike anything any of us have lived through and though pandemics have happened in the past, is unprecedented in terms of the actions taken by many Governments around the world in order to contain the spread of the virus.
Varying levels of extended social restrictions have been put in place in many different countries such as the "lockdown" that we’ve experienced here in the UK, which resulted in our decision to temporarily close the Platinum Motor Group back in March, a decision that we believe was the correct one given the circumstances in which we found ourselves.
At the time of writing this foreword at the beginning of June, the Government is gradually releasing restrictions, whilst continuing to track and monitor the instances of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
This careful lifting of restrictions, which most recently included the automotive sector, has resulted in us taking the view to re-open the Platinum Motor Group at all sites, which we did initially in the Aftersales departments of Service and Parts on the 18th May, followed by our Sales Departments on the 1st June, in line with Government guidelines.
It’s important to understand that when we took the decision to close the Platinum Motor Group in March, we did so in the interest of the safety of all those who work in our businesses and who visit (our customers, suppliers and contactors). Therefore, in re-opening our businesses, it is critical that we do so with the exact same thoughts in mind i.e. in the safest manner deemed possible.
In order to re-open safely, we have been engaged in the following;
- Working with our franchise partners to procure PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Procuring other PPE, sanitising supplies and equipment from other sources
- Creating social distancing and related protocols to facilitate safe opening and operating
As you would expect, the "new reality" of the Platinum dealership environments centre around Social Distancing and Hygiene, and ways in which this must be achieved and maintained by all team members. This has been collated into a comprehensive "Re-Opening of The Dealerships Guide", which all Platinum Team Members receive prior to re-commencing work.
The situation we’ve all found ourselves in is complex, but our aim is to keep things as clear and simple as it can be (really, a common sense approach). Our objective and challenge is thus to;
"Keep everyone safe, whilst operating the business effectively"
So, we hereby present to you with an overview of our "Covid-19 dealership environment" and the related safety protocols.

HOW WE ARE KEEPING OUR DEALERSHIPS SAFE
The safety of our team, customers, suppliers and contractors is key. So, we have put social distancing and hygiene measures in place. As an example, this means there will be fewer cars and no brochures or magazines on display. But you will still get the friendly welcome and high-quality service you expect from us.
RECOGNISING CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS
Please see below an illustration to help you determine your symptoms. Please note this is only a guide and cannot provide a definitive diagnosis. This can only be achieved by taking a Covid test should you have any symptoms.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT US.
Now that we are open for business, our priority is to keep you safe. If you do visit us, these are the important steps we will be taking, though there will be many more precautions "behind the scenes":
We welcome your visit to our dealerships but please ensure you wear a face covering as mandated by the government.
We will keep the 2m distancing rule at all times, ensuring there’s enough room for this throughout the showroom and reception areas.
Hand sanitiser will be available to use throughout your visit.
Upon arrival we will greet you whilst ensuring that the 2m distancing rule is maintained.
We will keep our doors open and pathways clear to avoid any unnecessary risks of contact.
We will thoroughly cleanse all surfaces and vehicles in our dealership after every use.

If you are unsure, please contact our team and they will help you decide if a visit is necessary or provide support in another way. In all instances, we will do our best to find a way to help you.
If you do need to visit our dealership, we recommend that you confirm an appointment with us first.
Additionally, we will be further enhancing our digital capacity in terms of video technology, so that remote demonstrations can be carried out either in a "live" environment, or as media files we can send you to peruse at your convenience.
