New Renault Trafic E-Tech electric was named Van of the Year 2027 at the International Van of the Year (IVOTY) awards ceremony held during the IAA transportation show in Hanover on 14 September 2026.
The Renault van was a unanimous choice for the panel of 26 trade journalists from 26 European countries.
Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman of the International Van of the Year jury, said: “Congratulations to Renault Vans on winning the 2027 IVOTY with the new Trafic Van E-Tech electric. It’s the sixth such title for Renault, and exactly twenty-five years since the Trafic was last victorious. Previous winners for the French brand was the Trafic in 2002, the Master in 1998 and 2025 and Kangoo in 2022 and 2012.
“The main criterion for the nomination and the election of any van as International Van of the Year is its contribution to high standards of efficiency, safety, with respect to environment and the sustainability of the transport of light goods by road and the new Trafic Van E-Tech electric meets these requirements with aplomb.”

New Trafic Van E-Tech electric brings new technology to the LCV market

As a result, this new all-electric van marks a key milestone in the Trafic story, with technologies and features never before seen on the European LCV market: a range up to 470 km (pending approval), 800V electrical architecture for faster charging, and a turning circle equivalent to that of a Clio (10.3 metres).
It is also the first Renault Group vehicle and first LCV in Europe to feature SDV (software-defined van) architecture for centralised, flexible operation. This allows regular van updates, a more efficient and personalised driving experience, enhanced safety, and improved residual value thanks to the continuous vehicle updates.
