Vauxhall surpasses 100,000 EV sales milestone

Vauxhall has surpassed 100,000 battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, reinforcing its position as a leader in Britain's transition to electric mobility. The 100,000th EV sold was a Grandland Electric 213PS Ultimate, delivered by Drive Vauxhall Nuneaton. The Vauxhall Grandland recently placed third overall in the 2026 Auto Express Driver Power reliability survey and topped the ranks as the best mid-size SUV.

As of October 2026, Vauxhall has sold 102,852 EVs in the UK. Key milestones in the brand's electrification journey include reaching 10,000 EV sales in 2021 and 50,000 EV sales in 2023, reflecting a tenfold increase in customer demand for Vauxhall electric vehicles.

Vauxhall has always been a champion of electrification, leading the way in electrifying Britain. Since 2021, Vauxhall has been one of the first brands to offer an electric version of every van in its range. Vauxhall was also the UK’s best-selling electric van manufacturer for three years in a row from 2021 to 2023. The Combo Electric is built in the UK at Ellesmere Port, the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing plant.

The first Vauxhall EV was the Ampera, first sold in 2011. The Ampera was a radical vehicle for its time, featuring Range Extender technology, and the first of its kind to be sold in Europe. Following the Ampera, Corsa went electric in 2019. The Corsa-e was the first modern, mass-market, electric vehicle to be manufactured by Vauxhall. The original Corsa-e had a 50kWh battery with 136hp, providing up to 209 miles (WLTP) of electric driving. The current Corsa Electric is available with a 51kWh battery, 156hp, and delivers an increased range of 265 miles (WLTP).

In 2024, Vauxhall met its commitment to offer an electric version of every passenger car model in its range, with a total of eight models*. Frontera Electric and Frontera Hybrid were launched with the same list price, eliminating the price disparity that usually exists between electric and combustion versions of the same car for the first time in the UK car market.

The New Astra followed the Frontera, with all electrified versions having the same on-the-road (OTR) price across all trim levels. With the Electric Car Grant applied, the Astra Electric is available for less than the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, making electric driving even more accessible.

Whilst Vauxhall has a wide battery-electric product range, Mokka Electric remains its best-selling electric model, with more than 26,000 sales since its launch in 2020, closely followed by the Corsa Electric, with more than 23,000 sales since its launch that same year.

The electric range has continued to expand with the introduction of the high-performance Mokka GSE and Corsa GSE, Vauxhall's fastest-ever electric production cars, demonstrating the breadth of capability across the brand's EV line-up.

To complement its electric vehicle range, Vauxhall launched the Electric Streets of Britain campaign in 2023. The campaign invites drivers to register the need for on-street charging to be installed near them to help understand where the demand for infrastructure lies across the country. Since the campaign launched, over 13,000 streets across the country have been registered as needing on-street charging. Data gathered through the campaign has been shared with charging providers char.gy, Connected Kerb, and Kerbo Charge to help inform future on-street charging deployments.
