Smooth, quiet and comfortable, it has given Nissan a stylish flagship EV to sit above the LEAF and MICRA, and show what the brand can do with a premium, family-sized electric car.
For 2026, the ARIYA is getting a useful refresh. This is not a complete reinvention, but it does bring some welcome updates in the areas that matter most to many electric car drivers: design, technology, practicality and everyday usability.

A cleaner, refreshed look

One of the most interesting additions is Vehicle-to-Load, often shortened to V2L.
This allows the car’s battery to power external electrical devices. In day-to-day life, that could mean charging a laptop, powering camping equipment, running small appliances, or helping at an outdoor event.
It is one of those features that may sound a little niche at first, but could be genuinely useful once owners start finding their own ways to use it. For families, outdoor enthusiasts, mobile workers or anyone who likes the idea of having a large battery on wheels, V2L adds an extra layer of practicality.
The ARIYA is already a car designed to make electric driving feel calm and easy. V2L helps make it more versatile when it is parked, too.
Google built-in
Another major update is the arrival of NissanConnect with Google built-in.
That should make the infotainment system feel more familiar and more useful for many drivers. Google Maps can be integrated into the car’s route planning, helping drivers plan journeys and charging stops more easily.
For an electric car, good route planning is more than just a convenience. It can make long trips feel much simpler, particularly for drivers who are new to EVs or who do not want to juggle several different apps before setting off.

The 2026 ARIYA also gains technology designed to make charging easier.

The updated ARIYA is expected to continue with 63kWh and 87kWh battery options, giving buyers a choice depending on their budget and driving needs.

The current ARIYA manages up to 330 miles of combined WLTP range, depending on version, and it’s expected that the new version will manage a similar result.
Still available with two- or four-wheel drive
The ARIYA range has offered both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions, with Nissan’s e-4ORCE technology available on selected models.
For most drivers, the two-wheel-drive versions will offer the best balance of range, efficiency and cost. For those who want extra traction, more performance or added confidence in poor weather, e-4ORCE gives the ARIYA a more sure-footed feel.
That choice is one of the ARIYA’s strengths. It can be a comfortable long-range family EV, a refined company car, or a more powerful all-wheel-drive electric SUV.
