Renault Filante opens a new chapter in the brand’s international expansion. Positioned as a new global flagship in design and technology, it plays a central role in Renault’s 2027 International Game Plan, strengthening the brand’s presence in Asia and the Middle East.
A name rooted in Renault heritage
The name Filante recalls the Étoile Filante prototype, which set multiple world speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1956. More recently, Renault revived the name for the Renault Filante Record 2025 electric concept, which achieved an efficiency record of 1,008 km (626 miles) in under 10 hours at an average speed of 63 mph, with energy consumption of 7.8 kWh/100 km (7.97 miles/kWh).
The name also references Renault’s premium “Étoile” models of the 1930s, which identified the brand’s most prestigious vehicles on international markets.
Built at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, Filante reflects the industrial and technological expertise of Renault Korea, with a design and driving experience tailored to local expectations. Positioned in the E segment, it supports Renault’s move upmarket while complementing its Korean range, where D and E segment vehicles account for 51.6% of the market.
“Renault Filante represents the best of what Renault Group and Renault Korea can achieve together. Combining Renault's global DNA in design and innovation with the technical excellence of Renault Korea, it is backed by the advanced capabilities of the Korean automotive industry.”
Nicolas Paris, CEO, Renault Korea
The 2027 International Game Plan will see Renault launch eight new vehicles outside Europe between 2024 and 2027. The brand aims for one in three international sales to be hybrid or electric within this timeframe. The rollout begins in March 2026 in South Korea, followed by selected Latin American markets and the Gulf States in early 2027.
Exterior design: assertive, avant-garde styling
Based on the Aurora project, Renault Filante introduces a new design approach for the brand, blending saloon elegance with SUV presence. Sculpted body lines and a coupé-like rear profile position it as a premium alternative to conventional E-segment saloons.
Designed by Renault Technocentre in France and Renault Design Center Seoul, and developed in South Korea, Filante features a muscular stance and distinctive crossover silhouette. It measures 4,915 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, conveying presence while promising generous interior space.
“Filante is redefining the cues of its segment. In a category where status traditionally goes hand-in-hand with function, we've added a touch of excitement with a distinctive style that catches the eye. The elongated rear end gives it a distinctive coupé-like look. In the same way as for other recent brand designs, the body lines are both sculpted and streamlined. Every detail is precision-finished with a high-tech look, such as the light signature or diamond-pattern grille. With its spacious, light-filled cabin and panoramic sunroof, Filante delivers on both technology and comfort.”
Laurens van den Acker, Vice President, Corporate Design
A unique visual signature
The front end is defined by an illuminated three-dimensional grille inspired by the Renault diamond logo, with a visual transition from body colour to gloss black. Ultra-slim LED headlights sit flush with the bodywork, while the daytime running lights form a 28-degree angle, referencing the geometry of the Renault emblem.
In profile, a flowing roofline, chrome window surrounds and 19- or 20-inch wheels reinforce the premium character. At the rear, sculpted surfaces, a suspended spoiler and ultra-slim LED lights create a wide, athletic stance. On the Esprit Alpine version, contrasting black and white finishes add further distinction.
Interior design: a sophisticated high-tech cabin dedicated to comfort
The interior of Renault Filante is designed as a contemporary living space, combining intuitive ergonomics, connected technology and refined materials to create a calm, premium atmosphere.
Renault Filante features a wide horizontal dashboard incorporating three 12.3-inch screens, forming the OpenR Panorama Screen, complemented by a 25.6-inch augmented-reality head-up display. This layout enhances clarity and immersion while keeping key information within the driver’s field of vision.
A new four-spoke steering wheel, intuitive controls and cleanly integrated air vents reinforce the cockpit’s modern design. Materials include recycled and grained coated textiles, selected to balance comfort, durability and reduced environmental impact.
Interior ambiences vary by trim, with distinct colour schemes and finishes for Techno, Iconic and Esprit Alpine, the latter featuring Alpine-inspired stitching, detailing and illuminated branding.
Comfort for every passenger
With a 2,820 mm wheelbase, Renault Filante offers generous space for all occupants. Rear passengers benefit from 320 mm of knee room and 874 mm of headroom, while the 60/40 split rear bench provides excellent support. Boot capacity is 654 litres with the seats up (including the underfloor compartment) and 2,071 litres with the seats folded.
A fixed 1.1 m² panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light. Tri-zone climate control allows independent temperature adjustment, supported by an air purification system monitoring fine particles (PM2.5).
A sound experience designed for audiophiles
Enhanced soundproofing, acoustic glazing and optimised seals create a calm cabin environment. Two audio systems are available: an Arkamys system with eight speakers, or a Bose Premium system with ten speakers and active noise cancellation.
Technologies: an intuitive, personalised and connected in-car experience
Renault Filante features the new-generation OpenR Panorama infotainment system, compatible with Android Automotive. The interface is fast and intuitive, with voice control, app access and personalised driver profiles.
The 12.3-inch passenger screen allows independent use of media functions via Bluetooth headphones. Renault Filante also introduces a world-first XR in-car video game, using the vehicle’s camera with near-zero latency.
The Adot Auto intelligent voice assistant supports natural interaction and personalised services, while AI Tips provides context-sensitive guidance. Software updates are delivered seamlessly via software-over-the-air (SOTA) technology.
The My Renault app enables remote vehicle functions, including location, pre-conditioning and digital key access. Up to five digital keys can be shared between users.
Connectivity features include:
- four USB-C ports
- wireless smartphone charging
- onboard Wi-Fi
- multipoint Bluetooth for two phones
New-generation driving aids
Renault Filante features more than 30 advanced driver assistance systems, grouped under Renault Easy Drive, supporting safer, more relaxed driving in urban and motorway conditions.
These include intelligent adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, lane centring, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, traffic sign recognition with adaptive speed limiter, advanced blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Auto Park Assist, and 360-degree cameras with transparent chassis view combined with a 540-degree camera for all-round perception.
Three new systems debut on Renault Filante:
- Emergency collision avoidance, supporting evasive manoeuvres between 18 and 75 mph with increased steering torque, aided by data from the cameras and vehicle sensors
- Digital interior rear-view mirror, improving rear visibility and integrating electronic toll collection
- Child presence detection, monitoring the cabin and triggering alerts if a child is left inside
A driver attention monitoring system analyses steering inputs and reaction times, while the head-up display projects key information directly into the driver’s field of vision.
Powertrains: full hybrid E-Tech 250, power, efficiency and driving pleasure
Developed on the CMA platform, Renault Filante features an upgraded full hybrid E-Tech 250 hp powertrain, combining strong performance with high efficiency, without the need for external charging.
The system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque with two electric motors integrated into a DHT Pro automatic transmission, delivering a combined output of 250 hp and up to 565 Nm of torque.
Energy is supplied by a 1.64 kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling up to 75% of city driving in all-electric mode, depending on conditions. The vehicle always starts in electric mode. Fuel consumption is reduced by up to 50% compared with an equivalent non-hybrid petrol engine, with CO₂ emissions of 106 g/km.
The DHT Pro (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) combines two electric motors, a dual epicyclic gearset, a high-pressure hydraulic module and a dual clutch. Its three gears ensure smooth transitions between operating modes and seamless performance.
Chassis and suspension tuning prioritise comfort, refinement and high-speed stability, with particular attention to thermal management and vibration control. Renault Filante is targeting top results in the 2026 KNCAP safety ratings.
