Škoda charges to two new titles in annual What Car? Electric Car Awards

Škoda has recharged its trophy collection with two new What Car? Electric Car awards. Continuing their winning streaks in the electric and plug-in hybrid sectors, both the Superb Estate and the Enyaq comfortably took top honours in their respective categories, with the What Car? judging panel praising their all-round ability and value for money.

Leading the charge to What Car? silverware, the Superb Estate iV was named Best Hybrid Estate. Introduced in 2024, the fourth-generation Superb has already won a raft of industry accolades, with the plug-in hybrid iV version able to deliver up to 70 miles in electric-only mode. The What Car? judges highlighted the Superb’s acclaimed practicality and comfort, with Editor Steve Huntingford commenting: “First and foremost, an estate car needs to be practical, and the Superb absolutely delivers here, offering an immense amount of space for passengers and luggage. Yet it doesn’t feel overly big from behind the wheel, because it combines tidy handling with a comfortable ride and accurate steering that builds weight in a natural way.”

Škoda’s first ever purpose-built electric car, the Enyaq, also added to its tally of award wins by securing the What Car? Best Used Electric Family SUV title for the second year in a row. Launched in the UK in 2021, the Enyaq has been a huge success, racking up more than 300,000 sales worldwide since its launch, becoming one of Europe's most successful electric SUVs.

Explaining why the Enyaq took top spot in 2026, Steve Huntingford said: “No second-hand SUV comes close to matching the Enyaq’s blend of practicality and affordability. It’s so good, in fact, that it’s not just the best used electric family SUV you can buy, but What Car?'s current Used Car of the Year.”

In 2026, the Enyaq has continued to collect industry awards, building on its remarkable tally of titles. These include Best Car for Running Costs in the Auto Trader Drivers' Choice Awards, and the Smart Spender award in the 2026 Carwow Car of the Year Awards.

Škoda’s all-electric range will double in size in 2026 with Enyaq and Elroq set to be joined by new Epiq and Peaq, both of which are available to order.
