Then, up front, the Juke keeps its iconic round headlights, but we really liked that they have been given a sharp, modern twist with some very slim LED running lights above here.

These running lights are then supported well by its V-motion grille – a staple in the Nissan family these days, which just adds a bit of aggression, while its stylish, sleek bonnet lines give it a more refined, premium look here as well.

Overall, it is both playful and purposeful, and just stands out in a sea of generic small crossovers and that isn't something easy to just say.

From the side view, this shows off the Juke’s muscular lines and sporty stance really well as well.

For example, it sits rather quite high, giving it a proper SUV feel by doing so, while still looking compact and manageable for city streets, another area we really liked.

Then, with its hidden rear door handles, these really help to keep the profile clean and sporty in our expert opinion, while giving it a nod to its coupe styling that still manages to be practical for families at the same time.

The bold wheel arches and sculpted doors also add a touch of drama to the car as well, making it just look ready for action even when parked.

Its roofline is also something we spotted as it slopes gently towards the back of the car, giving it that trendy coupe-like look that’s all the rage in small cars today.

There is also an optional panoramic roof on some trim levels, too, which just adds a touch of class and brings in extra light, which is especially nice for your rear seat passengers here.

Overall, it just flows well with the rest of its design, and it really adds to the Juke’s unique personality, we thought as well.

Around the back, the Juke sports some very sharp tail-lights and a distinctive rear spoiler that just adds a sporty touch.

For example, here the back end is clean and nicely balanced, with a tidy bumper design and well-integrated exhaust tips, which make it look the part on the road.

We also liked how it gives it a much more mature look than the first-generation Juke did, though it still keeps that cheeky charm we all remember here in doing so too, which is nice to see.

For your wheels, here you get some very chunky wheel arches, which are a standout feature.

They not only give the Juke a rugged, off-road-ready appearance but also help it look more substantial on the road at the same time.

So, whether you go for the 17-inch or larger alloys on the likes of the Teckna+, they fill the arches nicely and add to the whole sporty vibe really well here.

It is just one of the things that makes the Juke feel a cut above many other small crossovers in our expert view.

Talking about the cabin, the layout here is modern and clean, with everything exactly where you'd expect it.

For example, it really does feel driver-focused with a sporty centre console and good visibility up front too.

Hard plastics are still about in places, but overall, they are well hidden and don’t feel too cheap.

The circular air vents and soft-touch panels we also like, as these clearly add a bit of flair here too.

Overall, we find the Juke’s interior more upmarket than some others in the space, such as with the Citroen C3 Aircross and even edging close to the feel of a more expensive Volkswagen T-Cross as well.

This comfort feel is really helped thanks to its front seats as well.

These seats are then surprisingly supportive, with decent side bolsters and lumbar comfort for longer journeys too.

Most trims we must say, also come with height adjustment, and the driving position is nice and high as well, giving you a confident view of the road due to this.

Heated seats are also available here on the higher trims like Tekna and Tekna+ as well, which is just a treat to have on those chilly mornings.

It is also worth noting that the steering wheel adjusts for both rake and reach, so getting comfy is just easy enough for most drivers we found.

Now, the back seats have always been a bit of a sore spot in the Juke, but Nissan’s worked some magic here in the latest generation.

For example, there’s more legroom (up to 553mm) and headroom (936mm) compared to the first Juke it which is decent for a compact SUV, so adults can actually fit in without a squeeze.

Granted, it is still not limousine-like - as it is a Compact SUV after all – so taller passengers might brush the roof – but it’s loads better than before.

There are also easy to get to ISOFIX points in the rear seats, which we really liked their placements here, which are very handy for child seats.

Then, with its hidden rear door handles, which are still here, really do help to add a slick coupe-like look from the outside.

The rear seats also split-fold 60/40, giving you flexibility when you need to carry bulkier items here as well.

This split seating design is then complemented really well with the rear door design that is still a bit narrow, but it’s better than it used to be.

Whether it's the clever hidden rear door handles or the compact footprint, we really like how the Juke is just easy to live with.

For instance, you have some nice rear visibility, and you do get a reversing camera on most versions to hep with your parking as well.

Looking at its touchscreen infotainment system, this sits neatly on the dash – 8 inches as standard on most trim levels. Here you can also get an upgraded Bose sound system in Tekna trims as well, which does really add some real audio depth, while the rear spoiler adds a sporty touch to its silhouette, helping to support this here as well.

We also really liked how it is simple to use, with clear menus and decent response times as well.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included on almost every model, so connecting your smartphone is just a doddle.

The audio system is also good enough for daily driving, but step up to the Bose setup on higher trims, and it’s a real treat for those wanting more sound quality here.

The navigation system also comes built-in on mid to high trims, too, making it even easier to get around as an end result as well.

Technology-wise, the Juke is up to speed with all the essentials and then some in our view.

For example, the cruise control is standard on most trims, while adaptive cruise control is bundled into the ProPilot system on its top-end models as well.

You’ll also find lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree camera, all available as well, which we really liked.

The digital display between the dials is also nice, and gives you the key info you need at a glance, from your MPG to your navigation prompts, which is just very usable overall.

Moving to the upholstery, as you will see later on, this varies by trim – from simple cloth in the base model to leather and Alcantara options in higher-spec N Sport versions.

The Tekna+ even offers some funky colour themes like black with orange stitching here, giving it a more premium and youthful vibe as a result.

The materials used throughout also feel very solid and durable – nothing feels like it’s going to fall apart anytime soon, for example.

Looking at the boot in the new Juke, this is one of its big wins.

At 422 litres, it’s much bigger than the old model and outclasses rivals like the Toyota Yaris Cross (397 litres) here.

Then you can also easily drop the back seats and you get up to 1,305 litres of space – more than enough for a weekend trip or a flat-pack furniture haul, for example.

We also really liked that there is also a false floor, giving you hidden storage and a flat load bay when the seats are folded here.

So, if you’re after a small crossover with a bigger boot, this should be high on your list here.

Finally, looking at the interior features, here you have the NissanConnect Services App, which lets you stay connected with your car - unlock the doors, flash the lights, locate your car easily, and more.

Up front, the Juke provides a commanding driving position with good visibility and excellent ergonomics.

There’s also generous legroom and headroom for both driver and passenger, with supportive seats that feel comfy even on longer drives.

The height-adjustable driver’s seat and tilt-and-reach steering wheel make it easy to find the perfect position.

Rear seat space has improved considerably over the first-generation model. Adults will find adequate legroom (up to 553mm) and headroom (936mm), though it can still feel a little snug for taller passengers.

The seat backs split-fold 60/40, making it easy to expand the boot space when needed.

Rear ISOFIX anchor points are easily accessible, making child seat installation quick and hassle-free.

Boot space is one of the Juke’s standout features. With the seats up, you get 422 litres in petrol models and 354 litres in the hybrid version. Fold the back seats down and the capacity increases to 1,305 L (petrol) or 1,237 L (hybrid).

The wide tailgate opening and relatively low loading lip make it easy to lift heavier items. Plus, an adjustable boot floor helps create a flat load space, with hidden underfloor storage for smaller bits.

The Juke also excels in everyday storage. You’ll find roomy front door bins that hold large water bottles, a decent-sized glovebox, cupholders in the centre console, and additional space under the armrest.

Rear passengers also get their own USB ports and small storage pockets.

Whether you're loading shopping bags, a folded pram, or packing for a weekend away, the Juke proves to be a flexible and family-friendly small SUV.

It’s well-suited for young families thanks to its improved rear seat access, practical boot layout, and the availability of heated front seats and quick-clear windscreens in higher trims, perfect for school runs and daily errands.

You’ve got the choice between a six-speed manual and a DCT automatic gearbox here.

Here, the manual gearbox also gives you that classic driving feel, while the automatic transmission is also very smooth and stress-free, especially in traffic.

This smooth feeling is then complemented really well, thanks to the steering wheel feeling light but accurate – ideal for city driving, but not too floaty on country lanes either, we must note.

While the Juke doesn’t feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the current DCT is also very responsive and smooth, which is then complemented well thanks to its front two-wheel drive system - that is standard across the Juke range - giving you some very light handling and decent grip, even without a limited-slip differential or independent rear suspension like some rivals have as well we should note.

Overall, we noted that the driving position is comfortable, and you get a decent view of the road ahead as well, which is another plus.

The new Juke is also front-wheel drive by default, but all-wheel drive is not currently offered like the original Nissan Juke’s Nismo RS edition had, which did have a four-wheel-drive option back in the day.

That said, as you won't be taking this car to serious off-roading, this shouldn't be something most drivers will notice not having.

Ride comfort is also surprisingly good.

Here, we were impressed with how the suspension handles bumps well, though larger potholes can still jolt you a bit, which is to be expected.

On the whole, though, the road noise is kept to a minimum unless you are pushing hard on the accelerator pedal.

The hybrid powertrain options also automatically selects the most efficient power source for you between the electric motor, the petrol engine or a combination of the two, to help you get the best performance and efficiency it can.

Here, we especially liked how the Juke Hybrid is reactive to your throttle inputs, giving you a smooth and enjoyable drive overall as a result.

This is in part thanks to its e-Power-inspired tech, which allows the Juke Hybrid to give you a very punchy acceleration while extending its electric range for city driving as it does so as well.

As a result, for buyers moving toward electric vehicles, the hybrid Juke bridges the gap with an efficient electric motor and great MPG

The e-Pedal Step then gives you the option to accelerate and decelerate effectively with just the accelerator pedal at speeds above 10km/h as well, which is a nice touch.

The Nissan Juke then comes with an advanced low-friction multi-mode gearbox that helps to provide you with optimal use of your power, whether you go with an electric, petrol engine, or both.

The new Nissan Juke is also available with a lightweight, 1.0-litre internal combustion engine, which combines fuel economy with plenty of power in doing so.

The electronically controlled turbocharger and reduced friction design also help to give you a very smooth and responsive power.

If you do, you just need to switch to ECO mode for further improved fuel efficiency, or to Sport mode if, instead, you prefer more performance from the engine, for example.

Using this along with gentle driving can give you great fuel economy even in city traffic.

Against cars like the Renault Captur, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Ford Puma, the Juke we feel really holds its own well.

It might not be the absolute leader in MPG, but it does strike a nice balance between performance and fuel efficiency here overall.

As a petrol or hybrid car under £40,000, the Nissan Juke falls into the regular VED pricing without the luxury car supplement. The hybrid offers the lowest first-year road tax thanks to its better emissions figures.

If you're running the Nissan Juke as a company car, the hybrid version is clearly the better choice for BiK tax purposes. It falls into a lower percentage band, meaning lower monthly tax bills for employees.

This handy system helps you keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front. It uses clever sensors to control acceleration and braking, automatically adjusting your speed to maintain a comfortable gap, so long motorway drives feel much more relaxed.

Ever worry about cars hiding in your blind spot? This system keeps an eye out and gives you a gentle warning if another vehicle is alongside you. If you start to drift towards it, the car can even help steer you back into your lane. Smart stuff.

If you unintentionally drift out of your lane, this feature gently nudges you back on track. It spots when you've left the centre of your lane and lightly applies the brakes to one side to guide you back - just a subtle helping hand when your attention slips.

With built-in pedestrian and cyclist recognition, this safety system scans the road ahead for potential hazards. If it detects something or someone in your path, it can automatically hit the brakes to avoid or lessen the impact of a collision. A brilliant bit of tech for peace of mind in busy traffic.

The Juke has been tested by Euro NCAP and scored well for safety here as well, making it a good pick among the best small SUVs as a result, we should also note.

The Hyundai Kona, feels more high-tech inside, but the Juke just gives you a more fun driving experience and better fuel economy.

The Puma does have sharper handling and a slightly more spacious boot overall, but the Juke just feels more premium and looks more distinctive for a cheaper price on the whole as well.

The Toyota is then smooth and a hybrid-only, but the Juke wins for affordability and everyday charm in our view here.

Plus, the Juke Hybrid closes the gap on emissions and electric power here too.
